poverty and water

In countries all around the world families and entire towns suffer do to poverty. Food and water supply is difficult to find. Many of the water they do find is dirty and polluted. Many people when thinking of this think of small children in Africa or in Haiti. Yes there is a lot of this happening there but places like Turkey and Ukraine, India, and many other places.

Just the poverty alone causes damage to any person child or adult. You cannot by food or clothing. The children’s parents cannot afford an education for their children. Their only transportation is walking or horse back they cannot afford to buy even a bicycle.

As for the water the people in poverty usually don’t have clean water to drink. And if they drink the dirty water and get very ill. They can get diseases and those diseases may cause death.

global warming

Global warming is an issue that not many people are taking it to seriously. Many people believe that global warming is a myth, an urban legend like big foot or the loch ness monster. But it is true, scientist have proven that it is happening and at a fast pace.

Scientist have also proven that most of it is due to human pollution according to the IPCC. It is true that the earth many times before heated up and cooled down (experienced climate change), but not such as fast as this one. It usually takes a couple centuries, but this one is taking only 1 century or less.

The place feeling the heat of global warming is the Artic (Alaska, parts of Canada, and eastern Russia), glaciers are melting, native tribes and polar bears are losing homes.

Not just land is suffering the climate change, the ocean is suffering greatly. Many of the ocean’s wild life and coral reefs diminishing. Coral reefs die in the slightest change of temperature. There are also fish that are extremely sensitive to climate change

Bridge to Terabithia (lets take the tunnel)

Bridge to Terabithia. Just the name is magical. You have to take a bridge to go somewhere unrealistic, so similar to the real world. Because even in fantasy there are always similarities to the real world. You are always on the move using bridges to keep on moving. If you do you will get to the place you want to get to.
The things said above are just a few things that Ive learned from Bridge to Terabithia. Thats what I appreciate from Bridge to Terabithia, no matter what kind of book that you are reading there always things to learn and things to resolve. One thing that needs to be resolved in Bridge to Terabithia is Jesss relationship with his father. His father is never around always at work never spending time with his children. When thing that shows how Jesss father is unsupportive and not exactly best father of the year is when Jess as a young boy showed his father a painting he made in school. Im sure that any other father would have said Good job son, but like the man he is he starts getting angry about the teachers for turning his son into a ____. Yes since Bridge to Terabithia is a childrens book Katherine Patterson did not write the last word she leaves it to the imagination of the reader.

All that I wrote above made start to think that maybe that is why Jess is so eager to enter Terabithia but still a little cautious. I always believe that this is due to his father being so distant and not always so intergraded in his childrens life. I feel that if I were Jess I would feel the same. Maybe this new concept is cool but will father approve. Jess is not the only kid with out problems; I think that Leslie also has problems only Patterson did not go into dept.

I bet that many people reading for the eighth grade assignment thought the book they were reading would be as shallow as a kiddie pool, but just like the ocean the deeper you go the more you find along the way. The ocean has no end just like your interpretations.

Bridge to Teribithia one of many national childhood favorites. It was made into a movie in 2008 amd that was the last we heard of the magical in the woods. But now i am ready to bring the classic back to life. And to acomplish such a feat that imust explain Jess's life. Jess's family wasn't the richest family on the block. He never had the best toys never really was that popular and wasn't exacly the best student thatt walked the earth, but he did dreams like every other child he had ambitions.
Now on Leslies life back round info wasn't that easy to understand but if you payed close attention you would notice she is the complete oppisite than Jesse no siblings, midlle class family (richer han Jesse) she was even the fastest runner in the fifth grade. she was eveything Jess wanted to be and yet she needed to use her imagination to satisfy her.
I belive that Jess goes to Terabithia to escape his problems like an un-supportive father and am mother who just shrugs everything off and now I believe Leslie goes to the magical place just to have fun and to make up being an only child.
Adults may never know what we kids suffer.

In the book Bridge to Teribethia I learned that Jess's father does not approve of his dream to become an artist. When Jess's father said - " all those old teachers turning my son into a-" he does not finish his sentence but I think I know what he was going yo say.
That small line got me wondering does Jess's father cuss in front of Jess, does he verbally abuse his son. The last thing was a stretch, but it is a possibility. It made me wonder if that is the reason that Jess was so eager to go to his imaginary world to escape a father who is never there, and over towering responsibility laid down by his mother, or was it just pure curiosity. But to me it seems to me that he was trying to get away from something. I think that is why Jess was so hesitant to join Leslie in their pretend journeys. I believe Jess thought 'will my father accept this'. If his father thought badly of Jess wanting to be an artist imagine what he will think of Jess when he finds out his son is playing with imaginary fairies.
Will his father ever accept his son for who he is and not who he wants his son to be. Being the only son has taken his toll on Jess because he is expected to be the farmer the one who does the work around the house.  And when you come from a small town wanting to be have a career that does not get you good money is almost unheard of. So it brings us to the question does Jess's father believe that his son is a (the word he did not say) for believing in his dream to be an artist.

charlottes web connections

In the book Charlotte's web I noticed the there is a web of connections letting the main characters survive and how without each other life would be a difficult existence.
One attachment to this web is Wilbur and Templeton. Many little children may remember when Templeton said " Why should worry let him die"(p.90). That's when Charlotte pointed out that his Wilbur's food is going to the grave with Wilbur, and pointed out how much Templeton loves Wilbur's left overs. That's when Templeton stood up and said to the dump (in my head). Templeton is only interested in food and if Wilbur alive equals food Wilbur must stay alive.
One of the most obvious connections in the book is Charlotte and Wilbur. The entire book is how Charlotte is helping Wilbur survive by writing letters in her web describing Wilbur, but Wilbur helps Charlotte survive by attracting flies with his manure pile and his trough. of course with out Wilbur she would still  stay alive but Wilbur is helping the wait for that unlucky fly to fly by a little easier. life without each other would be a a hard existence.
survival is about having some body to help you and to keep you alive. But if you are alone penned up with no one around your doomed to death or a very lonely existence.
